Dr. Mariia Pashchenko

OSA Ambassador / Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences

Mentoring as a way for Student Chapter Success
 

Mariia Pashchencko is postdoctoral researcher at the Karlov University in Prague and the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
She graduated summa cum laude in 2006 from Vasyl Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, with a MSc degree in Physics. She completed her PhD studies in 2015 at the Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Over a span of 10 years, Mariia worked at the frontier between optics and magnetism, her research being funded by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine within the Scholarships for Young Scientists program, and awarded by the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.

 

Currently, her research interests are dedicated to the magnetic properties and spectroscopy of nanomaterials.
She is an active member of OSA since 2007. As of 2007, Mariia was the main organizer of the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics OSA Student Chapter in Kharkiv, Ukraine. During her 9 years of activity within the IRE OSA Student Chapter, she hold different chapter officer positions, between 2013-2015 acting as the President of the organization, initiating several original programs.
Such experiences allowed her to be selected for the OSA Ambassador Class of 2017.
